Girl Friday ready for the races due to chance to dress up

HAIRDRESSER Zoe Taylor is psyched for the sun and good times at the Gladstone Cup races on Saturday.

Featuring as The Observer's Girl Friday, Zoe said: "I think it's pretty exciting; it's the one time you can get really dressed up here."

Unfortunately the fashion focused teen won't win best dressed.

Her salon, Lily Hair, sponsors the Gladstone Turf Club.

But that hasn't stopped the 18-year-old from working on her outfit for the last two months, so she's ready to zip and go after work.

"The morning will be jam packed full of hair and make-up," she said.

The apprentice is originally from Gladstone, but has seen a bit of the industry that underpins the city.

"My dad's one of the Bechtel workers so we travelled around a bit, but I would call Gladstone my home," she said.

"I like that everyone is really friendly here, even though there's a lot of people that are not from here."
