Yaralla retains grip on top spot with win over Biloela
YARALLA remains at the top of the ladder after taking down Biloela Valley 5-0 in Saturday's first-division football match.
Both teams got off to a rocky start at Yaralla Sports ground with a nil-all score at half time.
But the tables turned in the second half, with Yaralla slotting in five goals and winning the round five game.
But Yaralla coach Joe Smith said that although he was happy with the end result, it wasn't his team's finest moment.
"It wasn't our best performance," he said. "We just didn't stick to our game plan,
"But we did play better in the second half."
The assistant coach for the Valleys, Tom Banks, put the loss down to not enough numbers on the field.
"With only 10 players, we knew it was going to be difficult," he said.
"We managed to hold then nil-all till halftime but we struggled with fitness in the second half not having any subs. "But Yaralla played pretty well in my opinion."
Biloela takes on the Meteors next weekend while Yaralla has its first bye of the season.
