Wild imagination pays off as mum writes first book
CALLIOPE mum LJ Higgins knew she had to make use of her crazy imagination - the result being her very first book.
Mrs Higgins has been writing "terrible teenage love stories" since she was in Year 6.
"A lot happens in this head," she laughed.
"I am a note person and I have always drawn and painted."
Two years ago, the 29-year-old had a dream that formed the basis of a novel.
"I was driving along and then I suddenly thought of the characters," she said.
From then on, Mrs Higgins sat down three nights a week on her computer and wrote.
"I didn't know anyone when I moved here so I was really bored," she said.
Mrs Higgins juggled being a mother of two children aged three and five to complete the book.
Dawn of the Dreamer is the first in a trilogy, set in the year 2023.
In the book, dreams are no longer created by the mind but are controlled by a multimillion dollar corporation using popular product Wristcuff.
Wearers are told it will improve their life by helping them lose weight and sleep better; but little do they know the device controls their ability to dream.
The book tracks the journey of main character Amelia, who isn't like everybody else and still has her own dreams.
Mrs Higgins will hold a book launch on April 18.
Dawn of the Dreamer will be available for purchase on Amazon from April 13.
