What's on in Gladstone during school holidays

HERE'S a taste of what the kids can participate in the second week of the school holidays.

All events are part of National Youth Week, unless otherwise specified.

FRIDAY, APRIL 10:

Mayor's Youth Breakfast: At Savour the Flavour, Tondoon Gardens, 7.30am - 9am. Includes Saiki Sister City Book Exchange. Invitation only event.

Fairy and pixie magic garden: (non-Youth Week) At Calliope Crafty Capers, 9.30-11.30am, 5-16 years. Cost $20. Create your own fairy or pixie's magical garden with a clay house, Fimo mushrooms and flowers, picket fence and a fairy crossing bridge. Phone 0428 871 010.

Beat Box Workshop: At Mt Larcom Youth Shed, 10am - 1pm. Free. Learn the basics of beatboxing. Take a water bottle and snack.

Free golf lessons by a PGA Professional: At Gladstone Golf Course. Free. 10-15 years at 9-10am
and 10am-11am, 16-25 years at 11am-noon and noon-1pm.

Wear enclosed shoes and polo shirt. Meet at the pro shop. Numbers are limited and bookings are required. Phone 4976 6300.

Anime Movie Night: At Gladstone Library, 6-8.30pm for 10-15 years. Free. Screening of Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Event also being held at Agnes Water Library on April 17, screening Howls Moving Castle. Snacks provided.

SATURDAY, APRIL 11:

Skate park competition: At Calliope Skate Park, 10am-1pm. Free. Skateboard/bike/scooter comp with Eythan Lewis-Heselwood. Sausage sizzle and drinks for sale.

Teen Book Club launch: Free. At Gladstone Library. Also at Boyne Library on April 19. 12-18 years, 10.30am-12.30pm. Meet local author Sue-Ellen Pashley. Morning tea provided.

SUNDAY, APRIL 12:

Rainbow Run at Mt Larcom. Registrations have closed, but you can still go and watch. At Mt Larcom Showgrounds. Gates open at 8am.

MONDAY, APRIL 13:

Library Mystery: From Monday, April 13 to Friday, April 17, at Boyne Tannum Library, 12-25 years. Free. Solve the puzzle and go in the draw for an iPad. A new clue is posted daily inside the Boyne Tannum Library. The prize draw will be at 3pm on Friday.

Woodland Fairies: (non-Youth Week) At Calliope Crafty Capers, 9.30-11.30am, 3-12 years. Cost $20 plus product cost. Make a woodland fairy tutu, wand, wings, magic sparkling necklace and a fairy headband. Phone 0428 871 010.

TUESDAY, APRIL 14:

Master Chef Challenge: At Cedar Galleries, 49544 Bruce Hwy, Calliope, 11am-1pm. Free. Complete the challenges to get ingredients to make your lunch. Aprons provided. Enclosed shoes must be worn. Not suitable for people with

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15:

DreamVision Board: Gladstone Library, 11am-2pm. Free. Create your own personal dream vision board. Limited places available. Bookings required. Phone 4976 6300.

Lantern making: Gladstone Community Hub, 5 Buller St, 5pm-8pm. Free. For 12-25 years (parents and carers may attend). Lanterns on display from 7.30pm. Food provided.

Car maintenance: At Bill Robertson Toyota showroom area, for 15-25 years, 6-8pm. Free. Learn general maintenance,

THURSDAY, APRIL 16:

Rumble in the Park: At Gladstone PCYC. Free community event from 2-4.30pm. Bubble soccer. There also will be events at the Gladstone Skate Park in Memorial Park from 6-8pm, with a canteen operating.

Skateboard graphic designing: (non-Youth Week) At Calliope Crafty Capers, 9-11.30am, 8-17 years. Cost $30 plus product cost. Create your own design on a maple timber skateboard deck. Phone 0428 871 010.

FRIDAY, APRIL 17:

Bubble painting art workshop: At Mt Larcom Youth Shed, Year of Light Event, 10am-12.30pm. Free. Wear old
clothes.

World Trivia Night: At Gladstone PCYC, 6pm for 6.30pm start. Free. Food and drinks for sale. Maximum six people per team. No bookings required.

Movie night: At Boyne Tannum Community Centre, screening of Evan Almighty from 6.30-8.30pm. Free. Food and Drinks for sale. Take your own bean bag or blanket. Community event. 

SATURDAY, APRIL 18:

Fishing with Johnny Mitchell: Canoe Point, for 10-17 years, 9am-noon. Free. Participants must take their own fishing
equipment, snack and water bottle. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. There's the chance to win a new fishing rod. Bookings required. Phone 4976 6300.

Bungee Run and Bubble Soccer Balls: At Discovery Coast Sport and Recreation Ground, Anderson Way, Agnes Water, 2-5pm. Free. Canteen open. Enclosed shoes must be worn. 

SUNDAY, APRIL 19:

Chill Out at the Calliope Pool: 1-3pm, inflatables/Zorb balls. Normal pool entry fee applies. Kiosk open for drinks and
snacks. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.
