WHETHER you're a latte lover, a flat white drinker, or one who prefers to sip on a non-fat caramel macchiato, your coffee preference says something about your personality.
It is no secret that Australians love a cuppa - but new research shows coffee has become a basis of social stereotyping.
And if you have ever wondered what your daily coffee choice says about you, then listen up.
According to a recent DéLonghi National Coffee Report, the most common coffee, the flat white, is consumed by 'down to earth, plain and boring' types.
Cappuccino drinkers - the second most popular coffee choice - are more likely to be 'fun' and 'the life and soul of the party'.
Raceview resident Nathan Ward, who we found enjoying a cappuccino at Ipswich coffee store Smith, said his personality did not really reflect his coffee preference.
"I'm actually kind of shy," he said. "Maybe after a few drinks (not of coffee) I might become 'the life and soul of the party'."
But his friend Steve Watson, who was sipping on a flat white, agreed he was a bit laid back and boring.
Macchiato drinkers were seen as 'arrogant' while latte-lovers were labelled as 'high maintenance'.
Mr Watson, who lives in Melbourne, confirmed another aspect of the study, which pointed out Victorians were the biggest coffee drinkers in the nation, consuming three to four cups a day. "I definitely drink that much," he said. "I think it's just because it's so cold in Victoria and there are coffee stores everywhere."
According to the report more than 90% of Australians aged over 18 years drink coffee.
The average Aussie coffee drinker will spend $1825 on takeaway coffee each year.
