Eat pizza, meet author

Book lovers are invited to meet and eat pizza with acclaimed international author Michael Grant at the Gladstone City Library on Monday, May 23. Organised with assistance of the Brisbane Writers Festival, the event will be part of Michael Grant's tour of the Gladstone Region from May 23-25. Michael Grant is an American author of young adult fiction and bestselling author of the Gone series, the BZRK trilogy and the new Front Lines trilogy. His latest thriller reimagines World War II with girl soldiers fighting on the front lines. During his Gladstone tour Michael will also speak to junior and senior high school students at two secondary school venues.

Morning tea

A BIGGEST Morning Tea cancer appeal will be held at the Boyne Tannum Bowls Club, Jacaranda Dr, on May 26. Bingo starts at 9.30am and morning tea is served at 10.15am. Entry is by gold coin donation. For more information phone Max on 49739587.

Miriam Vale morning tea

A BIGGEST morning tea event will be held at the Miriam Vale Community Centre on Thursday from 9am. Entry is $5 and raffle tickets $1.

60 years concert

The Gladstone Musical Society Inc will present their Diamond Jubilee concert at Port Curtis Place, Oaka Lane, Gladstone, at 10am, May 27. Entry is $9 and includes morning tea. Music presented will include songs from the past 60 years. For bookings please phone Narelle Russell 49727072.

Island Night

The 'Island Night' Stronger Than Winston event will be held in Gladstone Yaralla Sports Club 5.30pm on May 28. The Gladstone Fijian Community 'Friends of Fiji' are organising this fundraising event under the banner of GMAI. The Island Night will be action packed beginning with a traditional Kava Ceremony followed by cultural performances by our local community, finger food, lucky door prizes, heaps of raffle prizes, cash bar available on the night and great music by DJ Locko. Cent sale

The Gladstone Bowls Club are holding a cent sale at their clubhouse at 6a Ferris St, Gladstone on Saturday, May 28. Doors open at 11am for a 1pm start.
