What a difference a year makes, Newman tells LNP faithful

AFTER gathering with the Liberal National Party who's who on Saturday in Rockhampton, Premier Campbell Newman will spend the first anniversary of his party's resounding election win making his way down Queensland's coast from Townsville to the Sunshine Coast.

Mr Newman was in Rockhampton to address the party's state council along with LNP President Bruce McIver and the party's state director Brad Henderson.

He used his keynote address to tell the party faithful that his government had brought Queensland back from the brink, making only vague references to his unpopular cuts to the public service.

"When we say we have to get Queensland back on track and back in the black," his speaking notes said.

"It's not spin, it's not a slogan; it's an economic imperative."
