Wests release young Miller to play for Hull FC in the UK

HE was billed as a star young prospect at the start of this season, but Jacob Miller lasted just four games in the Tigers' No.7 jumper.

Wests agreed yesterday to release the 20-year-old from his contract, with the former Mullumbimby junior to continue his career with Hull FC in the UK.

Miller's fate was sealed last week when he was named to play, but dropped back to the NSW Cup after Benji Marshall made a quick comeback from his turf toe injury.

The young playmaker was chased by Hull at the end of last year.

Fellow Super League club Wakefield was set to sign Taulima Tautai from Parramatta yesterday, with the Eels releasing the 25-year-old.

Meanwhile the Roosters have re-signed utility Daniel Mortimer for another two years. Mortimer has provided value for the Bondi club this year, coming on at hooker in short bursts to relieve starting No.9 Jake Friend.

It was sweet redemption for the 23-year-old, after being shown the door by the Eels at the end of 2011.

"The club's been great to me, I know my role and I'm learning so much," he said.

"That's a big part of the reason I really wanted to stay."
