Valleys lift U18 trophy in a canter to join in celebrations
VALLEYS could have mistaken the grand final for another Thursday night training session, but instead they walked off Marley Brown Oval under-18 premiers.
The Diehards scored a crushing victory over the Brothers, 62-10, who were simply unable to find a groove and continually gave up points to Valleys.
Slicing through the defence with relative ease, Valleys amassed 28 points before the Brothers really had a chance to cross the line, which they finally did seven minutes from half-time.
Brothers were possibly overcome with the enormity of the day, and Captain Jake Leeson was disappointed but determined to have a better showing next year.
"It didn't ... come together but we will have most of the boys (back) next year ..."
The Brothers day was well summed up by the first play of the second half, unable to cleanly field the ball from the kick off and Valleys scoring off the resulting position in the attacking zone.
"It was the best we played all season, a good win," man of the match for Valleys Caleb Van Larwick said.
Valleys: Sam Smith (4), Caleb Van Larwick (3), Dyan Richards (2), Josh Noovao, Matt Dougan.
Brothers: Emrys Walker, Jordan McLelland.
