Valleys claim third preseason challenge in a row

VALLEYS have now won the Wallabys Valleys Preseason Challege for the three years it has taken place.

The event, pitting the Gladstone rugby league clubs against each other, was held on Sunday at Albion Park Gladstone, with under-7s starting at 10am through to the under-16 match at 2pm.

Though the matches were rained out the week prior, as luck would have it, the Valleys and Wallabys senior teams competed against each other in the first round of the GRL competition on Saturday so their results were still included in the tally to determine the victorious club from the challege .

It was the most closely-fought challenge ever, with the under-16s game determining the result.

With tonnes of parents and rugby league supporters out in force there was a huge crowd of around 400 to 500 people.

Valleys Junior RLFC president Grant Wilson said it was a great day and the most important thing was that the kids had a lot of fun.

Wallabys Junior RLFC president Darren Martin agreed that the juniors all had a great time and said his club's seniors were ecstatic with their wins.

He wanted to thank both the Wallabys and Valleys' committees and the referees for making the day possible.
