Vale to a champion

RUGBY LEAGUE: Brothers Rugby League Club has endured a tumultuous week with the death of another club stalwart.

Zachary Docherty died last Friday and leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished forever at his beloved club.

His brother Will and Clint Docherty are current players and Willsaid Zachary was a character as well as a talented dummy half.

"The funniest moment was one time at training when he was chasing me to the sideline and I said that I needed to go and do a number two in the toilet,” Will recalled.

"Zachary just burst out laughing.”

Zachary's last game at the Brothers was a premiership in 2005 and he won the Observer Medal in 1999, as the reserve grade best and fairest.

Zac Junior, 19, paid tribute to his dad. "He showed me everything and how to play league,” Zac said. "He brought me up the right way.”

Zachary's daughter Kylia said her dad was the life of the party and a true character.

"There was never a dull moment when he was around,” she said.

Rosemareen Pilot said her son had a vibrant personality. "Zac was a happy-go-lucky guy and he shared that around,” she said. "He had some mates at the footy club.”

Zachary leaves behind parents William and Rosemareen Pilot, two brothers, seven children and two grand-children.
