Funding allows local artists to start animating spaces
THE arts community in Gladstone will have an extra $70,000 to play with after it was successful in securing funding for an ambitious project, which will involve setting up a permanent space at the Gladstone Aquatic Centre.
It secured $10,000 from the Gladstone Regional Council and $60,000 from Artslink Queensland to take part in the "animating spaces" program, which aims to revitalise or celebrate significant public spaces.
Local artists and the council will help construct a permanent arts space at the pool complete with digital screens, aimed at encouraging 17 to 25-year-olds to utilise the space for future projects.
The funding will also go toward an arts puzzle to run over a week next September.
