Truckie trapped for two hours after he hit a power pole

A MAN spent about two and half hours trapped in his vehicle, avoiding the threat of several live powerlines draped across his truck, at Cambooya.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the driver was uninjured but could not leave his vehicle until Ergon Energy workers isolated the damaged power lines.

The driver crashed his tripper truck into the pole, on Wyreema-Cambooya Rd near the intersection with Bourne Rd, about 3.05 yesterday, causing the powerlines to fall.

He was free to leave his vehicle at 5.20pm.

The collision sparked a small grass fire and the QFES spokesperson said this was extinguished within minutes.

The driver was uninjured.
