Truck crash south of Rockhampton closes Bruce Highway
UPDATE 4PM: Officer-in-charge of Gracemere Police Station Sergeant Ben Holdcroft says the Bruce Highway is open to traffic again, after a two truck crash closed it earlier today.
He says a semi-trailer travelling south collided with the rear of B-double, 500m south of the Bobs Creek Rd intersection near Bajool at about 9.30am.
"There was a broken down vehicle on the side of the road," he says.
"Braking by a long line of vehicles caused a concertina effect."
The driver of the semi-trailer received minor injuries.
Sgt Holdcroft says the force of the collision caused damage to the trailers of both trucks.
"This meant their loads had to be removed causing lengthy delays," he says.
"Police established a diversionary route via Bobs Creek Rd to enable traffic to move in both directions."
He says the highway was closed for 5 hours, but re-opened about 4pm.
2.45PM: THE truck crash occurred about 9.30am.
A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said two fire crews responded.
The spokesman said there were no entrapments and it was believed there were no injuries.
Neither truck was carrying any dangerous goods.
