ALP candidate swipes at O'Dowd over Port Access Rd
LABOR candidate for Flynn Chris Trevor has taken a swipe at MP Ken O'Dowd for failing to commit funding to the Gladstone Port Access Rd upgrade.
Mr Trevor blamed Mr O'Dowd for failing to commit funding to Stage 2 of the Port Access Rd in Gladstone.
"Ken O'Dowd refused to commit to this funding in 2010. I am asking him to commit to the Gladstone community," Mr Trevor said.
Mr Trevor and then-treasurer Wayne Swan offered $50 million toward the project in 2010.
He claims because the funding promise wasn't mentioned in an LNP Better Road Services brochure, the money had been abandoned.
The Port Access Rd bypass will provide an alternate route for heavy vehicles travelling along Blain Dr and Red Rover Rd to Gladstone's Port.
Mr O'Dowd denied the funding had been dropped.
"We haven't said we won't fund it, but you can look forward to a positive announcement before the election," Mr O'Dowd said.
