Folk duo to treat Gladstone with tranquil tunes during tour
AWARD-WINNING singers and songwriters Nick and Liesl have been touring extensively since their last release.
The down-to-earth artists possess a rhythmic folk sound echoed by beautiful, tranquil harmonies and lyrics.
Nick and Liesl have recently been on their fifth European tour, and played at major festivals like Woodford and Caloundra.
Quite unexpectedly they have also become involved in writing for the theatre stage and film through a chance encounter with US-based writer Jeremy Culver and composer Charleene Closshey.
After getting knocked back for a grant to fund their next album, Nick and Liesl decided to release a fully homemade "in-betweener".
The album Friend and Lover is a light and sweet, at times almost kitsch, release.
It captures the essence of the duo's sound - beautiful vocals and superbly blended harmonies.
The album reflects on themes of love, loneliness and life split between two continents.
Nick said music was everything to the pair.
"We've put our whole life into music," he said.
Liesl said they will travel to New York after their Queensland tour.
"Our songs are being performed in a musical named Feather, after the title track to our debut album," she said.
At the same time, the couple has some more exciting news.
"In September we are having a baby," Liesl said.
Join the duo in their journey when they perform at Gladstone Cedar Galleries on Friday, May 10.
"Come and enjoy the night with us, with a nice relaxed evening, and share our music with us in a nice setting," Nick said.
