Trampoline with tgoma means you can bounce kids outside
NOW there's really no excuse for the kids not to get outside and play.
A trampoline that combines screen time fun with exercise has been launched - and is already an award winner.
Springfree Trampoline featuring tgoma received two of the highest accolades in design excellence.
Launched in Australia just this month, the fun trampoline received Australian Good Design Awards for 'Product Design: Sport and Lifestyle' and 'Digital Design: Interface Design'.
The awards were presented at the Good Design Awards gala evening in Sydney.
Australian Good Design Awards are among the longest standing and most prestigious design awards in the world.
Springfree Trampoline, which is based on the Sunshine Coast at Kunda Park, won the awards for tgoma, its world-first outdoor interactive digital gaming and fitness system on a trampoline, encouraging kids and families to get outdoors and be active.
tgoma founder Steve Holmes says studies have shown that kids are spending 60 hours a week consuming media and less than 60 minutes a week playing outside.
"Our goal is to shift kids' behaviour from indoor sedentary play to outdoor active play," Steve said.
"Instead of fighting technology, it's about leveraging it to transform screen time from an isolating, sedentary activity
to a healthful, engaging experience for the entire family."
Good Design Australia conducts one of the most rigorous and independent evaluation processes in the world, the company said.
All submissions receive a thorough hands-on evaluation by an expert panel of Australian and international judges and have to meet a range of criteria to even qualify as a finalist.
To be shortlisted in the Digital Design category, tgoma had to show design, usability, creativity, innovation, content, quality and commerciality.
In the Product Design category, tgoma proved form, function, safety, sustainability, quality, commerciality and innovation.
Families with a Springfree Trampoline featuring tgoma can download the free tgoma app from iTunes or Google Play to access an initial seven signature games, designed to engage the entire family, with options including educational games, fun games and even interactive fitness workouts for adults.
tgoma is an acronym for "Take Gaming Outside and Make it Active".
The trampoline and app combination incorporates specialised sensor technology on the trampoline mat that directly integrates with the user's own tablet device.
Jumpers receive an array of health benefits including cardiovascular fitness, bone strengthening and endorphin release - offering a fun way to merge exercise with play.
