Turkey Beach Rural Fire Brigade first officer Errol Noye was a popular man with a small red wagon built to make kids happy.

Throughout the morning and afternoon children piled into the small wagon, ringing the bells and cheering for more as he drove them around the fields.

"They do really enjoy it," he said.

"It sure doesn't go very fast, though!"

Wendy Kennedy travelled from Rockhampton with the CQ Mower Racing Club, and she blew the crowd away with her fast mower driving skills.

She came first in her heat.

"They do go pretty fast, they probably go up to 80ks," she said.
