Get dressed up, head trackside for Valentine's Race Day
LOVE, fashion and a great day of racing will be the mix at Gladstone Turf Club today.
Secretary Judy Weinert said the club had named the meet its Valentine's Race Day and has advertised it as a ladies day.
"There will be fashions on the field," Judy said.
The winning outfit will be treated to a stellar prize pool which includes a first prize of a two-night stay at Mercure Capricorn Resort in Yeppoon and runner-up prizes donated by Diceys, the cinemas and local hairdressers.
Judy encouraged all of the girls to get down to Ferguson Park today in what would be their last chance of the year to don summer colours.
"It's the last chance to wear a summer dress because next race meeting will be in autumn."
Despite much of the region being adversely affected by the recent flooding and wet weather Judy said plenty of people would make it to the race day.
In fact she said more people might head to Gladstone with their local tracks out of order.
"There are a lot of people coming down just to use the track.
"They are looking for somewhere to go to race their horses."
With an almost entirely full field across the five races today, she said it should be a great race day.
"A lot of local horses are racing but a lot are coming from elsewhere."
Tips on glamour for Ladies Day at races
GLADSTONE girls will be getting dolled up today for Ladies Day at Gladstone Turf Club.
A recent fashion photo shoot, with Celina Solis wearing clothing and accessories from Miss Havana Nights Pre Loved Boutique, displayed some fetching racewear options.
Accessorising with a headpiece is always popular among race-goers.
