Thunder box race
GLADSTONE residents can expect to hear a little thunder at the Harbour Festival this year.
The unique Thunder Box Classic race will see teams of five, consisting of two runners "pushing", two runners "pulling" and a jockey taking their place on the "throne".
A Le Mans-style start will kick-off the 200m obstacle course race with teams making brief "toilet stops" along the way to collect various items.
Only 16 teams will have the opportunity to win more than $4000 in cash prizes up for grabs.
General manager Michelle Stafford said the event would add even more thrills, laughter and entertainment to line-up.
"Toilet humour aside, the people of our region are always up for laugh and a bit of friendly competition," she said.
Entries for the Tour de Festival Thunder Box Classic are open now.
Entry forms can be downloaded online from gladstonefestival.com.
