Two people airlifted from three-vehicle crash on Bruce Hwy

UPDATE 6.47pm: Two people were airlifted out from the scene, one suffering a broken foot and the other going in and out of consciousness.

The horse is still alive.

The highway was re-opened at 8,30pm.

EARLIER: A serious traffic accident occurred on the Bruce Hwy south of Miriam Vale on Thursday afternoon.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash, including a vehicle towing a horse trailer with a horse onboard.

The seriousness of injuries could not yet be confirmed, but two helicopters were called, one from Rockhampton and one from Bundaberg, with one person being airlifted from the scene.

Six victims were involved in total, with two people requiring treatment in their vehicle before being extracted.

Traffic diversions are in place, with southbound traffic being diverted left via Bundaberg or Lowmead.

Northbound traffic will be diverted through Gin Gin for both trucks and cars, while cars also being diverted via John Clifford Way, near Granite Crk.
