Three shot as Texas college put in lockdown

AT least three people - including a gunman - were reportedly shot at a Texas college Tuesday, US media reported, and a second gunman may be involved.

Television footage showed people lying on the ground and at least one person being loaded into an ambulance on the campus of Lone Star College near Houston.

"We know that shots have been fired and we are in a shelter-in-place situation on the campus," Vicki Cassidy, manager of media relations for Lone Star College System, told the Houston Chronicle.

"It's a pretty chaotic scene at this point in time."

The Chronicle later reported that at least one person was critical.

Deputies said two gunmen were involved in the shooting. One of them was taken into custody a short time later. The other man was on the run, the new site said.

Law enforcement officials were searching the area near the campus, using tracking dogs.

The shooter was among three people wounded in the incident at the school's library, KHOU news reported.

The college posted a warning on its Facebook page which read: "ALERT: LSC-North Harris - Campus Evacuation

LSC-North Harris campus evacuation is in progress. A couple of armed suspects reported.; injuries reported. Incident limited to LSC-North Harris.''
