Gladstone will never be the same after magic of Boomtown

GLADSTONE will "never be the same" after Boomtown, says the producer of the epic musical that took the region by storm at the weekend.

Creative producer Marguerite Pepper said thousands flocked to the free event at the Gladstone Marina, with an incredible 6000 packing in around the outdoor stage on Saturday night.

"I've never worked with such an extraordinary team of professionals - from tugboat drivers to musicians to featured artists, and including King the horse," she said.

She said many of the local participants had been "empowered" by the experience.

"Several of the adult cast are considering their professional options, and many of the kids involved have had their eyes opened to what it's like to create theatre on this scale," she said.
