The Glen come close but Frenchville show why it's top
CRICKET: Despite a loss to top side Frenchville, The Glen captain David Heymer has seen enough to suggest his team may end the year with an early Christmas present.
The Glen are at Sun Valley Oval to second-placed Gracemere in yet another test on Saturday, but it's a game that's very winnable.
Michael Heymer top-scored with 85 runs in The Glen's first-innings total of 6-212 which Frenchville chased down with six wickets to spare.
Liam Kirk scored an unbeaten 70 for The Glen while Sam Chew (79) and Brent Hartley, with 70, were the mainstays for Frenchville.
"It was a positive sign with the bat after being down two wickets in the first over," David Heymer said.
"We batted well and I think 212 would have been enough, but we didn't really bowl very tight.''
Frenchville's mindset was to bat aggressively and Heymer noted it put his bowlers off.
"The bowling let us down and they were quite aggressive and had some luck which made bowling hard," he said.
Lachlan Hartley made a handy 21 and his Frenchville team-mate Callum McMahon made an unbeaten 26 as he and Leighton Milburn saw their team home.
BITS are away to Rocky Brothers on Saturday.
