The Glen captain seals win against Cap Coast

CRICKET: A superb 64 from The Glen captain Dave Heymer guided his team to a six-wicket win against Cap Coast Parkana at Sun Valley on Saturday.

The Glen successfully chased down Parkana's 154 with Hayden Warwick and Sam Pitt unbeaten on 30 and 17 runs respectively.

Liam Kirk contributed 24 runs after the early losses of Sam Lowry on two and Greg Purdon who made 14.

"Cap Coast are one of the better teams and it was a good win,” Heymer said.

A broken finger prevented Heymer from playing in the earlier rounds and the win levels The Glen to 3-3 in wins and losses.

It did not take long for Heymer to get into the swing of things after returning to the side last week against Frenchville.

"It was good to get a few runs,” he said.

Chad Gilmour shone with the ball to take 3-10 from his six overs and he received great support from Kirk (3-31).

Lowry did his bit with the ball where he conceded just 10 runs from his allotted eight overs.

The Glen are again at Sun Valley against BITS next Saturday from 12.30pm.

Meanwhile Yaralla's woes continue after the team was thrashed by a whopping 202 runs on the back of one man.

Yaralla were put to the sword by Frenchville all-rounder Joe McGahan whose brilliant double of 101 and 6-15 terrorised the home side that was missing young guns Josh Andrew and Nathan Spencer.

Frenchville piled on 236 with McGahan making 101 and Callum McMahon among the runs with 57.

Best with the ball for Yaralla was captain Jason Batchelor who took 2-35 off eight overs while fellow opening bowler Trent Sorohan was just as economical with 1-26 also off eight overs.

Yaralla were then bundled out for just 34 with the top scorer being Andrew Robertson with 10 runs. Six batsmen failed to score and four of those fell to McGahan.
