WE WERE THERE: The big night for senior students
FOR Year 12 students, the annual prom is the major event of the last term of the year, possibly even more so than the last day's graduation ceremony.
It's the time when the young ladies dress up to the nines - some spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars in preparation, with hairdressers, nail specialists, dressmakers and shoe shops all booked out for weeks prior.
It's the event where you'll see all the cool cars in town, bringing their precious rides out for a very special night and it's a true night of celebration.
Hundreds turn out to take a look at the lovely young ladies, and the blokes dressed to the nines as they arrive at the venue, which has previously received much care and attention.
Your Observer every year covers as many prom functions as we possibly can, recording the joyous atmosphere and taking those photos that the students all look for the day after.
And, each year The Observer publishes its special Proms feature, with the help of our friendly photographers, so that the special occasion for all schools in the region can be recorded in history.
