Ten things to do in Gladstone this weekend
IF you're looking for something to do in the Gladstone region this weekend, here are 10 suggestions to get you started.
1. Gladstone PCYC Markets
THE Gladstone PCYC Markets will be held on Sunday from 8am to noon.
With this month's market falling on Mother's Day, there are a number of special attractions that have been organised.
A free photo booth will operate thanks to Oh. Snap Photo Booth Hire, and a limited number of fruit kebabs from Gladstone Fruit Shop will be given to mums.
There also will be a Mother's Day raffle, with entry given to anyone who spends $10 or more at any stall.
And there will be a Woolworths domino swap for those chasing pieces to complete their sets.
This is on top of the usual range of stalls offering fruit and veg, furniture, food including gluten free to herbal teas, clothing, soy candles and more.
2. The John Denver Story
THE John Denver Story starring Rick Price and The Colorado Quartet will be performed at Gladstone Entertainment Centre on Saturday night.
The show will celebrate the songs of Denver, who was one of America's most celebrated male vocalists.
It will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets cost $59 adults and $54 concession. More details here.
3. Singles night for baby boomers
BABY boomer singles have the chance to meet other singles at Yaralla Sports Club on Saturday.
There will be a meet and greet at 7pm, followed by live music and dancing 8pm.
Look for the BBS sign in the outdoor area of the members lounge.

4. Mother's Day plant sale
THE Gladstone Orchid and Foliage Society will have a Mother's Day plant display and sales day on Saturday in front of Kmart from 8am-2.30pm.
There will be a display of plants as well as a wide range of plants for sale.

5. Mother's Day Classic fun run
TIE up your joggers and raise money for breast cancer research at the Mother's Day Classic at Tannum Sands Millennium Esplanade.
Be there at 7am for a 7.30am start.
Registrations can be made on the morning for the 4km or 8km run.
6. Craft for kids
THE Harvey Road Tavern's Club 4 Kids will have a Mother's Day arts and craft session on Saturday from 11.30am-2.30pm.
Kids can make a special gift for their mum.

7. Come and try Sevens Rugby day
UNDER 15 youth girls development squads for Sevens Rugby are about to start across the state.
A development squad trial for Gladstone under 15 girls will be held at Meteors Sports Ground, 673 Glenlyon Rd, Gladstone on Sunday from 9-11am.

8. Night of comedy
THE Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow will land at Gladstone Entertainment Centre on Sunday night.
The show will feature comedians Ivan Aristeguieta, Kevin Kropinyeri, Anne Edmonds, Deanne Smith and Josh Earl.
Tickets are $50 for adults, $35 for students and $40 for pensioners.
The show is recommended for people over the age of 15.

9. Big round of kart racing
GLADSTONE Kart Club is hosting the first round of the CQ Series this weekend.
Organisers are expecting about 130 of the state's best karters.
Qualifying starts at 12.45pm on Saturday, with racing from 2pm and going into the night, finishing about 8pm.
Racing starts again on Sunday from 9.30am to lunch time.
Entry for spectators is free, and there will be a canteen and bar operating.
The kart track is on South Trees Drive, 11.8km north of Benaraby.
10. Coffee cruise on Gladstone harbour
CURTIS Ferry Services will run a two-hour coffee cruise on Gladstone harbour on Sunday from 11am.
The cruise takes in Auckland Inlet, Gladstone Port, Auckland Point, the tug berth, Barney Point, harbour islands, Curtis Island LNG and industry.
Bookings can be made through the tourism information centre on 4972 9000, or through the Curtis Ferry Services erry office on 4972 6990.
Passengers also can take a ride or round trip on any of the weekend scheduled runs leaving at 8am and 2.30pm.
