Team touches down to investigate Heron Island fire
ASSESSORS touched down on Heron Island on Sunday as they began their investigations and estimations after a generator room fire on Christmas night that led to the resort shutting down on Boxing Day.
A spokeswoman for the resort said the team had landed and they were now waiting for an update about the effects of the fire.
She said a temporary generator had also arrived and had been set up to supply services to the staff and the assessment team.
"They have a temporary generator which arrived yesterday to supply services to the staff, but it's only a temporary measure to keep things running. It's not enough to cope with a full-capacity island," the spokeswoman said.
