Women’s Health Awareness Group celebrates 20th anniversary

IT'S 20 years since the Women's Health Awareness Group first opened its doors in South Gladstone.

Dedicated women have been providing counselling, information, support and advice for those in need ever since.

Sandy Prizeman is the manager of the group, and said government funding hadn't increased in those 20 years, but that hadn't stopped determined supporters.

"It's such a great feeling knowing that in some way we have helped people," she said.

Brenda Beaucham volunteered with the service for five years before moving into administration.

"When I was a volunteer I felt so much pride that I could be a part of something where I got nothing back. It's all about the satisfaction of helping people in need."

Birthday celebrations will include an open day later this year.
