Supermarkets have plan in place to restock in Gladstone

MAJOR retail food outlets within the Gladstone region are expected to be restocked within a matter of days, preventing any need for panic buying.

Gladstone Mayor Gail Sellers said the council had confirmed with all major outlets that new deliveries would arrive soon, and asked for the public to be patient in the meantime.

"Stock will come into Gladstone in a number of ways with some deliveries being flown in, others coming from Townsville, and the remaining goods being transported from Brisbane via Roma and Mackay," Cr Sellers said.

"It should only be a couple of days and we will see full shelves again at all major retail food outlets.

"I would ask Gladstone residents to shop responsibly during that time, purchasing only the amount of products that they would normally use during a 48-hour period."
