The stunning 2005 Ferrari 575 Superamerica

THIS week's blog is on a stunning 2005 Ferrari 575 Superamerica that is coated in a gorgeous Nurburgring Silver.

This particular Ferrari is equipped with a 5.7 litre, 48 valve V12 engine which can produce up to 397 kilowatts (532 horsepower) at 7250 rpm and 588 Newton metres of torque (434 pound-feet of torque) at 5250rpm.

This power then goes through a six-speed automated-manual transmission which then sends the power through the rear differential and then to the rear wheels. This particular 575 variant also has a curb weight of 1790 kilograms (3,946 pounds).

As I said before, the Ferrari 575 Superamerica is the successor to the 550 Barchetta, and although they don't look that much different, underneath the body it has many more features. Upgrades include bigger brake discs, a better weight distribution, refined aerodynamics, an adaptive suspension set-up, a larger and more powerful engine (by 47 horsepower) and many more mechanical improvements.

When the Ferrari 575 Superamerica was first released in 2005, it featured an electrochromic glass panel roof which rotated 180 degrees to lie flat over the cars bonnet above the engine. Both the electrochromic glass panel roof and the rotating roof were production car firsts.

Ferrari also claimed that the 575 Superamerica was the worlds fastest convertible at the time, seeing as though it could achieve 320 kilometres per hour (199 miles per hour).

In 2010 Ferrari introduced the SA Aperta, the replacement for the 575 Superamerica, and this model featured a 6.2 litre V12 engine derived from the Enzo which could produce up to 661 horsepower and was capable of 0-100 kilometres per hour in just 3.6 seconds.

Some other features that this particular Ferrari 575 Superamerica is equipped with includes intermittent wipers, 19 inch, 5 spoke alloy wheels wrapped in performance tyres, double-wishbone front and rear suspension, four-wheel ABS as well as traction control, seatbelt pretensioners, an engine immobilizer, a premium leather interior, dual-zone climate controls and much more.

Ferrari only produced 559 575 Superamericas following Enzo Ferrari's philosophy that there should always be one less car available than what the market demands, therefore only a handful of 575 Superamericas ended up on Australian shores. Currently there are no Ferrari 575 Superamericas available for purchase, but if one did come up for sale I estimate that it would be priced at about $250,000-$300,000.
