Students kick start their university insights

SEVENTEEN school students with their sights set on university next year in science, technology, engineering and maths courses are getting a jump start on their 2016 studies with a two-day Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy course.

The tailored Introduction to Safety, Industry and Academic Writing course will provide the STEM students with an insight into the skills required to succeed at university.

The course includes an academic skills session which provides students with important knowledge about how to prepare for those first year university assignments.

The students from Chanel College, Gladstone State High School and Toolooa State High School will also take a site visit to a local power station and network with qualified engineers.
