Storybook characters come to town for library opening

COLOURFUL storybook characters will help celebrate the opening of the relocated Miriam Vale Library on Tuesday.

Coinciding with Children's Book Week, the official opening will include a street parade of Miriam Vale State School children and staff dressed as their favourite storybook characters.

Library staff will host a morning of stories at the school before the celebrations make their way to new library.

Local residents are invited to join the school community at the new library, now located at the Miriam Vale Administration Centre, 41 Blomfield Street, for the official opening at 2pm.

"Celebrations will include a cake and refreshments, followed by library tours, which will show off exciting, new attractions," Mayor Gail Sellers said.

"These include a PlayStation 4 housed in its own gaming den which was formerly an old safe, a Young Adults room with comfy bean bags, and a beautiful local historical collection that features photographs of many of the area's older residents.

"Visitors can also access new resources such as free wi-fi, an iPad loan service, a dedicated computer room and a coffee machine.".

Library opening hours will remain the same: Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.
