Stolen Falcon clocked at high speed in front of school

THE public is urged to be on the lookout for a stolen Ford Falcon sedan that evaded police and travelled at speed through a school zone.

Oakey Police observed the stolen car in Lorrimer St, in front of St Monica's Catholic Primary School, about 8.30am Thursday.

When they attempted to intercept the vehicle, it sped off and turned into Campbell St.

Police did not pursue the vehicle due to concerns for road safety.

A spokesman said the vehicle was last seen travelling south on Hamlyn Rd and may be headed to Toowoomba.

The car was involved in several recent offences, including a fuel drive off.

"It has been running hot for a couple days," the spokesman said.

The car's rego number is 200YXS but police believed the plates may have be stolen.

Police investigations will continue and anyone with information that may help is asked to phone Policelink in 131 444.
