Stockland's major development milestones within reach
BOKARINA Beach landowners are expected to build on their exclusive slice of the Sunshine Coast within months and more milestones are now within reach.
The residential element of the prominent $5 billion Oceanside development suffered settlement setbacks earlier this year, with Nicklin Way roadworks and construction of a second bridge mostly to blame.
But Stockland senior development manager Mark McMahon said roadworks, plus landscaping, were on schedule for pre-Christmas completion, with the first settlements followed by immediate construction expected early next year.
The internal lake, an extension of the existing Lake Kawana, is now structurally complete with public access expected from early 2019, once the underpass and lake connections are completed in coming weeks.
Mr McMahon said water levels were expected to rise to match the existing lake by the end of the year and landscaping had started, with footpaths due to be complete about mid next year.
Earthworks are currently underway in the northern precinct of Bokarina Beach, and stage works are expected to start early next year.
Once complete, the residential development will comprise about 160 home sites, plus 130 homes and future apartments.
The final land release is now open in the $174 million "mini-city", ranging from $349,000 for a block of land to a $1.15 million house and land package on 480sq m.
The largest blocks in the development are 506sq m.
Beach Dr, a key road off Nicklin Way between the existing estates and Bokarina Beach, was re-opens today.
It had undergone road upgrades including linemarking, bike lanes and a new roundabout providing future access to Bokarina Beach and landscaping.
"We appreciate the community's patience while this road has been closed."
Oceanside encompasses the Birtinya and Bokarina Beach residential communities, Birtinya Retirement Village, the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct incorporating the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, and the future Birtinya Town Centre.
The 10,648sq m Stockland Birtinya Shopping Centre is just weeks out from its December 7 opening, and is tipped to deliver 800 jobs, a Coles, Aldi, range of locally-owned businesses and services plus national retailers.
Next door, a Caltex and drive-thru Opporto and Guzmen Y Gomez stores are under construction and expected to open before Easter.
