Still no date for Rules Beach vehicle access reopening
RESTORING vehicle access to Rules Beach has now fallen under the jurisdiction of State Government, and there's still no date for a reopening.
At a meeting last week, Gladstone Regional Council moved to adopt an officer's recommendation to construct vehicle access from Fingerfield Rd to the Broadwater Conservation Park, provided the project was fully funded by the State Government.
The proposal, estimated to cost $25,000, is an issue that Burnett MP Stephen Bennett said he knew was causing grievance to community members.
"We understand the frustration on behalf of residents and the strong desire from the community to provide a solution to coincide with the peak period of the tourism industry," he said.
"We believe there is a solution on the cards, and it is just at the horizon."
Restoring 4WD access after the Baffle Creek system was impacted by flooding rains in January has been underlined with several environmental complications.
