Special milestone for Seagulls with family club day

THIS year marks a special milestone for Tannum Boyne Seagulls Rugby League Club, with home games for the under-6 teams through to seniors on Saturday as part of a family club day.

Tannum Boyne Seagulls Junior chairperson Annette Vessey said it was a great day of football for all players, families, officials and coaching staff.

The under-18s played for the inaugural Hayden Currie Memorial Shield, in memory of the loss of a much loved member of the club and friend.

The U18s were lead out in a moving tribute by Hayden's younger brother Craig.

A minute silence was also held for Cameron Hayden, a member and friend of Tannum Boyne Seagulls RLC for 14 years who sadly passed away at the beginning of the year.

The club wanted to thank everyone that helped make the family day a great success, from everyone in the junior, old boys and senior clubs as well as the volunteers.

"A special thank you goes out to Gladstone juniors for making these days happen, which are important for all clubs," Vessey said.

"Game days likes these make you proud to be a Seagull."

The club's U16 teams are still seeking players to boost their team numbers, with training on Mondays and Wednesdays.
