Slow start to medical bus service
THE bus is there but not the patients with a slow start recorded to a free medical bus service operating from Gladstone to Rockhampton.
Launched late last year, the bus service offers a twice-daily service to local residents requiring specialist medical appointments in Rockhampton.
However, the service is operating on a "as needs basis" at the moment with minimal people accessing the service.
Funded by GLNG and operated by the Combined Rotary Clubs of Gladstone, the bus service is available to all ages and is not means tested.
Referrals are required for patients to access the service.
Extensive advertising of the service has taken place within the community with information regarding the service available at medical service facilities across the Gladstone region.
But a big push will now be made to further promote the bus service within the community.
