One dead in multi-vehicle crash on hwy near Miriam Vale
UPDATE 7.30PM: THE AGL Action Rescue Helicopter has confirmed that it airlifted a 27-year-old man in a critical condition after two cars collided on the Bruce Highway south of Miriam Vale on Friday afternoon.
The man suffered serious head and abdominal injuries.
He was treated at the scene by the helicopter's flight paramedic before being airlifted to Bundaberg Base Hospital.
A second person was also airlifted to the Bundaberg Base Hospital by the Rockhampton based rescue helicopter.
Both are expected to be transferred to Brisbane hospitals later this evening.
Two other people also required hospitalisation and were taken be road ambulance.
UPDATE 6PM: One person has been confirmed dead and two others have been airlifted to hospital following a horror three-car crash at Granite Creek, near Miriam Vale on Friday afternoon.
The crash happened about 27km south of Miriam Vale at 3pm.
One person died at the scene, and two men were airlifted to Bundaberg Hospital in a critical condition.
A woman is also being taken to Bundaberg with non-life threatening injuries.
The four occupants of one of the involved vehicles, two adults and two children, were not injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
UPDATE: 4.50PM: Queensland Police Service is diverting northbound traffic at Gin Gin to travel through Bundaberg.
Traffic travelling south is being diverted by traffic controllers onto Fingerboard Rd.
UPDATE 3.45PM: POLICE have confirmed they are at the scene of a serious three vehicle crash at Granite Creek, near Miriam Vale, in which multiple people are believed to have sustained critical injuries.
The Bruce Highway is blocked in both directions south of Miriam Vale. The highway is expected to be closed for a number of hours.

EARLIER: EMERGENCY services are attending to a three-car traffic accident south of Miriam Vale this afternoon.
It's believed the incident occurred around 3PM on the Bruce Hwy, in the vicinity of Granite Creek, about 27km south of Miriam Vale.
Initial reports suggest eight people were involved in the accident, with three people sustaining critical injuries.
RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue confirmed two helicopters would travel to the scene to airlift patients to hospital.
Police crews from Miriam Vale and Gladstone are at the scene.
The Bruce Hwy has been blocked and delays are expected.
