Selectors hope Henriques will shine at Gabba in third ODI

THE door on the Australian selectors' controversial rotation policy has opened and closed once again, but it's not only the players involved after the shock eight-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

Coach Mickey Arthur is taking a break from his duties for game three at the Gabba on Friday and is heading home to spend some time with his family.

The South African will re-join the squad on Saturday ahead of Sunday's showdown at the SCG.

Arthur will be replaced by Steve Rixon, in a series now all square at one apiece after Australia's woeful effort in Adelaide.

Captain Michael Clarke, opener David Warner and wicketkeeper Matthew Wade have all been recalled to the squad for the next two matches after being rested from the opening two games.

NSW allrounder Moises Henriques also comes through the door, passing the exiting Usman Khawaja, Aaron Finch, Steve Smith, Ben Cutting and Kane Richardson.

Wicketkeeper Brad Haddin, who top-scored with 50 on Sunday, was also left out after injuring his hamstring.

Henriques has been included for his first international matches since playing twice against India in Delhi and Mohali in 2009. He scored 12 and six and took one wicket in those games.

Chairman of selectors John Inverarity said the stage was set for Henriques to shine.

"Moises Henriques comes into the squad as a genuine all-rounder whose bowling will be suited to conditions often found at the Gabba," he said.

"Moises is a young man who has shown promise for some years with both the bat and the ball. This will be an opportunity for him to impress as we look for a good seam bowling all-rounder."

Inverarity also said he hoped Mitchell Johnson (side) and fellow left-armer Mitchell Starc (calf), who both didn't play in Adelaide, would be fit for Friday's game at the Gabba.

"The medical staff said that it is very likely they'll be fit. We'll make a full assessment on Wednesday and, if there's any doubt, we'll bring other players into the squad," he said.
