Seafood Festival set to return Father's Day next year

SEAFOOD lovers can rest easy knowing that Gladstone Seafood Festival is set to return - but they've got a long wait until it does.

Gladstone Festivals and Events and Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited have announced the once-annual event will return on Sunday, September 7 next year.

The festival was cut from the calendar in 2011 due to dwindling interest, prior to dead fish being discovered in Gladstone Harbour.

Next year, the event will coincide with Father's Day, and will showcase mouth-watering local seafood, as well as celebrity chefs, and local cuisines.

Organisers have assured fans that the one-armed prawn peeling competition will also return.
