Department working to restore vehicle access to Rules Beach

THE Department of Natural Resources and Mines is working to restore four-wheel-drive access to Rules Beach.

After heavy rains in January, vehicle access was cut off at Rules Beach, prompting community action.

A petition was submitted to the Government with more than 500 signatures from the community of Rules Beach, expressing wide interest in reinstating access.

Rules Beach was, until the early months of the year, one of the few beaches within the Gladstone Regional Council authority to allow vehicle access.

Delays in resolving the problem swung on environmental factors, sustainability arguments and consideration of a more suitable alternative.

A representative from the Burnett Electorate Office has advised progress is being made, with the Department of Natural Resources and Mining continuing to work with all parties to restore access to the beach.
