Josh Reynolds not happy with Andrew Johns’s call

RUGBY LEAGUE: Incumbent New South Wales five-eighth Josh Reynolds admitted he had been stung by criticism from NRL great Andrew Johns who said he would be "terrified" if Reynolds was chosen for the Blues for Origin game one next month.

"My start to the season hasn't been the way I wanted it to be, and I want to get things right here (with the Bulldogs) first and make sure my head's right for Origin if I do get the call up," he told reporters.

"After a couple of not too bad touches last week I feel a little bit better and I've got to keep moving forward from there."

As for the Johns criticism, Reynolds (pictured) admitted he had been disappointed, but said his main priority was to make sure his form was up to the expectations of his teammates and Bulldogs coach Des Hasler.

"It does hurt a bit that he thinks that of me, but as long as Des and my teammates like what I'm doing that's all that matters to me," Reynolds said.

"It's a pretty 'out there' call to tell you the truth because I have worked with him a bit, but each to their own.

"It's up to me to go out there and show what I can do."
