Revive a tired business with help from workshop
GIVE life to your tired business, through creating new energy - this is the message that the Gladstone Chamber of Commerce and Industry is sharing with members this month.
Looking at the results of the Boom or Bust Gladstone Region Business Study - where over 75% of responding businesses were established in the Gladstone Region for six years or more - it is clear some of our long-established businesses are doing it tough.
Businesses responding to the survey that were established over 10 years ago indicated higher than average percentages of: significant decreases in gross income trends over the past three years (21%); adverse effects from the industrial boom (65%); and businesses reducing the workforce (24%).
In addition to the study data, the chamber has been talking with a number of long-standing businesses that have been struggling.
In response to the findings, the chamber is developing a new range of services, including a "Growing Business in a Changing Economy" workshop to assist small-medium businesses analyse what the results of the study mean to them, as well as the introduction of a "Boom or Bust" survival kit for business.
The chamber is also focussing on business-first impressions and customer service.
These are two areas that consumers pay attention to when deciding where to spend.
GCCI is excited to help bring new energy to local business with the new services and businesses are excited too.
All businesses in the Gladstone Region are welcome to contact the chamber to talk about the new services and get a feel for how the chamber can help you build business in a changing economy.
