BASKETBALL: The Gladstone Amateur Basketball Association wrapped up season two of 2018 at the weekend with an action-packed afternoon and evening of grand finals.

There was a mixture of close contests and blow-out scores at Kev Broome Stadium as some familiar and new rivalries took shape.

The men's Premier League decider remained up in the air until inside the final minute but it was the Red Devils who snapped Blue Devils' stranglehold on the premiership, denying them a fifth-straight title with a 53-47 victory.

Red Devils' Dylan Owen was the star of the show scoring 25 points to guide his team to victory, outshining Troy Robinson (13 points) and Daniel Green (12 points) who led the scoring for the opposition.

The Blue Devils were dealt a blow in the fourth quarter when former QBL player Green injured his calf.

The red theme continued in the Division 1 Women's final with Devilicious Red getting the job done 54-45 against Lions.

The experienced Kellie Green led the way for the victors by scoring 21 points including three triples, but it was Carla Riggs who claimed the MVP award with nine points.

Green said it was the defensive effort of Riggs that helped her team over the line.

"We really played some super strong defence and her and Mirrin (Rashleigh) were key in that," she said.

"They got the rebounds we needed which was a big key in the game and they really stepped up and took it to their bigs (tall players)."

Devilicious Red's victory was the first of the season over the previously undefeated Lions.

Devolds claimed back-to-back premierships with a comfortable 61-40 over a young Lions Fury side who struggled without a bench to call on.

Jimmy Lamkin came off the bench for Devolds to claim the MVP award with a haul 14 points, matched by Tony Bernabei's 14 points. Young guns Mitch Glossop and Izaac Sealy scored 11 points each for Lions Fury.

The Division 2 Women's grand final saw Hawks defeat Kixx 44-24 with Kassandra Wareham top-scoring with 17 points while Darcie Arnold scored 15 for Kixx.

Taipans pipped BITS Saints 36-34 in the Men's Division 2 decider and Lions defeated Crusaders 58-42 in the 'Not the Wooden Spoon' match.
