Ready to roll out

THE Rocky Roller Derby League is lucky the Gladdy girls are on their way to help out.

With names such as Shredda, The Blackout Menace and KK Ruff 'n' Stuff these women would be menacing opponents.

Gretta "Shredda" Tenheggeler said the league was really excited to join in on this Saturday's roller derby at Rockhampton.

"We know what it's like to be new, so we put our hands up and said, 'What do you need?'"

Gladstone was bringing its best players, she added.

"The girls on our team are awesome.

"There's one, Duncan Manutz, who can kneeslide underneath a limbo stick that's only 30 centimetres off the ground.

"We've got lots of skills."

The rockabilly-themed derby is the Rocky league's first promo bout.

President Sabrina "Rink Bitz" Toby said the aim was ultimately to attract more keen skaters.

The roller derby will be held at the YWCA North Rockhampton.

Doors open at 5pm and skating starts at 6pm.

There will be hot food available as well as a licensed bar.
