Brisbane to Gladstone team to be an all Gladstone affair

RAY Hobbs's Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race this year is an all-Gladstone affair, his five-strong crew all local sailors.

The big different for Hobbs is which of his children are joining him on the journey.

Most years his daughter Carli is on the boat, but for this year's event Hobbs's son Ben will be on the vessel.

Regardless of who is on board No Problem, Hobbs takes the same attitude into the race, into every scrap of sailing he does, and into everything in life.

"I often have the nickname of being called 'No Problem', in a lot of countries I have travelled to because that is my attitude," he said.

He owned Restless before building No Problem.

So he has done plenty of monohull racing before heading to the Brisbane to Gladstone the last half-decade as a multihull skipper. He won two years ago and is keen to repeat the handicap victory.
