Rare 2011 Aston Martin Virage spotted in Sydney

HERE is the one and only 2011 Aston Martin Virage that I spotted in Sydney.

Aston Martin first released this new Virage model at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and it was intended to fit in between the basic DB9 model and the more expensive and powerful DBS model as it was available in either two-seat or 2+2 seat variants.

This particular Aston Martin is equipped with a 6.0-litre, 48 valve 12-cylinder engine which can produce up to 365 kilowatts (490 horsepower) at 6500rpm and 569 Newton metres of torque (420 pound-feet of torque) at 5750rpm.

Since the Aston Martin DB9 has 350 kilowatts and the Aston Martin DBS has 380 kilowatts, this means that the Virage's power is exactly in between the two models.

This allows the 2011 Aston Martin Virage to launch from 0-100 kilometres per hour in a claimed 4.6 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 299 kilometres per hour (186 miles per hour).

That's pretty fast for a four-seat grand tourer.

At the end of 2012, after only being in production for 18 months and producing just over 1000 units, Aston Martin sadly announced that the Virage would be discontinued. It seems as though customers are opting for the flagship model, the DBS, which handles better, has more power and is much more of a drivers car than the Virage.

Some other features that this particular Aston Martin Virage is equipped with includes 20-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in performance tyres, speed sensitive wipers, double-wishbone front and rear suspension, a front and rear stabilizer bar, four-wheel ABS as well as traction and stability control, Xenon headlights and daytime running LEDs, electronic brake force distribution and emergency braking assist, tire pressure monitoring, an engine immobilizer, a leather interior with front sport seats, climate control, a satellite navigation system and much more.

You can currently buy a 2011 Aston Martin Virage for about $340,000.
