RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue team undergo hard training

A HOST of gruelling training was on the cards this week for RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service's pilots, air crewman, rescue crewman and paramedics.

The team completed hoist training, pilot training, air crewman training and rescue crewman training with water training planned for next week.

Meanwhile they were tasked on two trips to Emerald, one to Blackwater and one to Mt Larcom to put their new skills into action.

The first trip to Emerald was the result of a motor vehicle accident just south of the town and the second trip to Emerald two days later also attributed to a motor vehicle accident.

The second accident occurred near Willows and involved a motor vehicle and a motor cycle.

The RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service was tasked to Mt Larcom to retrieve a male who had his lower right leg crushed.

The patient was treated at the scene by the onboard intensive care paramedic and doctor before being transported back to Rockhampton in a stable condition for further treatment.

A Blackwater patient suffering from a deteriorating illness was transferred to the Rockhampton Base Hospital for specialised treatment.
