Good to see V8 Supercars back on free to air TV

OPINION: I was a bit like a pig in doodoos yesterday.

It was Sunday afternoon and, finally, I got to see some great motorsport action on free to air TV.

It's a long time since the last round of the V8 Supercars was shown live on telly, and I loved every minute of it.

Another reason to be chuffed was seeing the PRA Falcons right up there and showing the rest of the field a clean pair of heels.

>> Lack of motorsport coverage a blow to fans

Just in case you didn't realise it, I'm a huge Ford fan. Always have been, always will be.

So, to see in Saturday's race at Townsville taken away by Ford in the front few places made me a really happy chappy.

And, to see the DJR Penske blokes get their car right and Scott Pye finish Saturday in fifth place was a real boost.

To top things off, our Kiwi blokes are doing pretty well as well at the moment.

Scott McLaughlin has had a rough start to the season, so to see him finish well on Saturday and take pole positon for Sunday is a big boost.

Add to that Fabian Coulthard's third place on Saturday and Andre Heimgartner's seventh in Sunday's top 10 shootout, and you can see that I have plenty of reasons for the elation.

I wrote this before the start of the final race of the round, but I was expecting to see a good result once again from my favourites.

Once again, however, I've got to say I'm not at all impressed with Ten Network's decision to show just a smattering of this year's events live.

Watching this weekend's coverage just reminds me exactly what I am missing - but there's no way I'm going to bend and fork out to Rupert to watch it all live.

And, the fact that they've totally ignored Formula 1 apart from The Australian Grand prix just stinks!
